Biography:

Witold Tadeusz Mars (1908-1985), born in Rząsna Polska, son of Tadeusz Grzegorz and Stefania, née Dunikowska, painter, draughtsman and illustrator, creating in the USA as W. T. Mars. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow and at the Warsaw School of Fine Arts. He made his debut with an exhibition in Lviv in 1936. He fought in the Polish Armed Forces during World War II, after which he settled in Great Britain and then in the United States. He illustrated several hundred books for leading American publishers. His works can be found in the National Museums in Warsaw and Wrocław and in the collections of the University of Minnesota, among others.
