Biography:

Zbigniew Stok-Stokowiec (1924-1990) - actor, director and director of cultural institutions active in Poland, Germany and Switzerland. During World War II, he was involved in the scouting movement and also served in the Home Army. Under the pseudonym "Żarski" , as a second lieutenant, he carried out, among other things, executions of those sentenced by the court of the Underground State. He was a prisoner at Majdanek. To avoid arrest, he emigrated from the country in 1945. He took an active part in the Warsaw Uprising. As a lieutenant of the Motorised Commando Battalion of General Anders's Second Corps, he fought in Italy and England. In 1947, he benefited from an amnesty and returned to Poland. As a director, he cooperated with the Polish Army House and the Polish Radio. Among others, he performed on the stage of the Polish Theatre in Warsaw. After graduating from directing at the State Higher School of Theatre, he worked, among others, as a director at the Sensational Theatre and the Stołeczna Estrada Theatre. In the 1960s he emigrated from the country to West Germany, where he was active as a director in Cologne, Munich or Hamburg. In 1971 he founded Kammertheater Stok (later Theater Stok) in Zurich, with which he intertwined his fate until the end of his days.
