Biography:

Zygmunt August Jan Grzymała Bosniacki (1837-1921), born in Krosno, son of Jan and Franciszka née Janicka, balneologist, geologist, palaeontologist and palaeobotanist. From 1856 he studied at the Jagiellonian University. In 1862 he received his doctoral degree. In 1874 he went to San Giuliano Terme in Italy where he built the villa "Belvedere", where frequent meetings of naturalists, artists and emigrants from Poland took place. In 1882 he became one of the founders of the Société Geologica Italiana. In 1911 he wrote the monograph "European Flysch" prepared on the basis of his many years of research.
