Cemetery in Sielawicze

Cemetery with Polish gravestone monuments. Information about the cemetery has been published (see bibliography). According to Anna Lewkowska, Jacek Lewkowski and Wojciech Walczak, the active Catholic cemetery has a plan close to an oval and an unfenced area of 0.6 ha. It was established in the middle of the 19th century and has the largest number of tombstones from the second half of the 20th century. In the central part there are several tombstones from the 19th century. The oldest one, from 1874, belongs to Jerzy Pionowicz. The oldest one, from 1874, belongs to Jerzy Pionowicz. Noteworthy is the following inscription: 'MICHAŁ ŻYTKIEWICZ / DIED FROM GAS INHALATION / 27 NOV. 1918 MAYING L. 35 / MEMENTO OF HIS WIFE AND CHILDREN". To quote the aforementioned authors, "the area is difficult to access, the cemetery very overgrown with bushes, scattered trees - pine, lime, oak."
