Biography:

Józef Mehoffer (actually Józef Edler von Mehoffer) was born on 19 March 1869 in Ropczyce. He was a painter, graphic artist and stained-glass artist, as well as a highly distinguished modernist artist of the Young Poland movement. He attended the School of Fine Arts in Kraków, where he studied under Jan Matejko, and also collaborated with Stanisław Wyspiański. He died on 7 July 1946 in Wadowice of tuberculosis. The Józef Mehoffer House, a branch of the National Museum in Kraków dedicated to his work, is located at 26 Krupnicza Street in Kraków.
