The quarters of Polish soldiers killed in the Polish-Lithuanian War

Lithuanian and Polish soldiers, killed in 1920 in the battles between the army of General Zeligowski and the Lithuanian army, are buried at the cemetery in Širvinti. As a result of the so-called Battle of Širvintai, which took place on 17-21 November 1920, the Lithuanian army occupied Širvintai and Gėdraičiai, driving General Želigowski's army out of these positions.
A small section next to the Lithuanian soldiers' quarters has been preserved until the present day, in which 3 unknown Polish soldiers are buried, on the grave crosses there are inscriptions in Lithuanian "A+A Lenku kareivis + 1920" [Ś.P. Unknown Polish soldier died 1920].
The cemetery was renovated in 2020 by the Lithuanian National Remembrance Foundation. At that time, the granite border of the grave field was made, and a granite plaque with the inscription was laid in front of the original concrete crosses: "Here rest the soldiers / of the Polish Army fallen in 1920. / Honour their memory!" [text in Lithuanian below].
