Conservation work on the architectural elements and furnishings of the Latin Cathedral in Lvov has been carried out consistently for several years, and has included S. Stroiński's paintings in the choir gallery. In connection with a comprehensive survey of the building conducted with a view to future renovation in the area of dampness in the walls and basement of the church, as well as the roofing of the northern tower, a complete architectural-geodetic inventory documentation was carried out.

At present, laser scanning is the most effective and increasingly widely used method for producing architectural-geodetic documentation. This method is extremely fast and efficient, especially when compared to traditional measurement methods.

Precisely measured three-dimensional scans provide an objective representation of the building and thus provide a reliable database of the appearance and state of preservation of the building that is easy to archive and share. Once the laser scanning is complete, any number of projections and cross-sections required can be produced from the collected data.

The basilica inventory documentation carried out in 2021 included the following measurement and drawing studies:

• projections of all levels of the cathedral established so as to present all levels of rooms and spaces, preserve the continuity of vertical communication and present important elements of decoration;
• cross-sections according to a list: longitudinal section in the axis of the nave and the presbytery, longitudinal section in the axis of the tower and the north aisle, longitudinal section in the axis of the tower and the south aisle, cross-section through the porch and the tower, three cross-sections through the successive chapels, three cross-sections through the main divisions of the chancel sections;
• elevation views in four exposures;
• the resulting complete 3D point cloud mapping of the cathedral in its entirety.
