Biography:

Stanisław Kopański (1895-1976) studied in Pteresburg. He fought at the front of the First World War in the Russian army. After the war he studied at the Warsaw University of Technology. He took part in the Polish-Bolshevik war. He then obtained a diploma in road and bridge engineering at the polytechnic. In 1925, he joined the Officer School of Artillery in Toruń as a lecturer. He also studied at the Higher War College in France. In September 1939, he was chief of the Operations Branch of the Supreme Commander's Staff. After the USSR invaded Poland, he made his way to Romania and then to France. After losing the Battle of France, he made his way to Palestine. He then found himself in the United Kingdom.
