Biography:

Eugeniusz Skibiński (1858-about 1918), architect born into a Polish family living in Shemash. After the devastating earthquake of 1859, they moved to Baku. In 1886, Skibinski graduated from the St Petersburg Academy of Fine Arts. From that year, he was the first Pole to work in the architecture department of the Baku magistrate. In 1896 he became a lecturer at the Bakin Technical School. As an architect, he designed about 250 buildings, including the Baku railway station and a palace for the merchant Aga-Bala Kuliyev. In addition to this, numerous residential projects. At the end of the 19th century, Skibiński ended his architectural activity and devoted himself to teaching at the building department of the Baku Secondary Technical Mechanical and Building School.
