Dominopol was a village inhabited by 60 Polish families of the gentry and 2-4 Ukrainian families. In the immediate vicinity of this village lay the Ukrainian village of Wolczak, which was the base and execution house of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army.

On 11.07.1943 on the night from Sunday to Monday armed UPA militia from Volchak murdered Poles. Almost the entire population of the village was killed - at least 220 people, only 9 survived. The village was not burnt down because the Polish farms were immediately occupied by the Ukrainians.

The victims were buried on the farms and in a mass grave. In 1997, through the efforts of the Association for the Commemoration of Poles Murdered in Volhynia, a tall metal cross was erected on the grave. Initially, the authorities did not agree to erect commemorative plaques here. Later, the Association placed a plaque on the cross with the inscription: "... To the Poles / residents of Dominopol / who died in 1943 / in eternal memory / Compatriots".

In 2008 and 2011, members of the Association carried out repair and renovation work on this commemoration.
