Biography:

Jerzy Nowosielski was born on 7 January 1923 in Kraków. In 1940, he started to study with Professor Stanislaw Kamocki at the Staatliche Kunstgewerbeschule Krakau. Later he also studied iconography at the Uniovskaya Lavra. He also studied with Eugeniusz Eibisch at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow after the war. He was involved in sacred art, stage design and taught at the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Łódź. Together with his wife, he founded the Nowosielski Foundation, which supports outstanding achievements in Polish culture with scholarships and prizes. His works could be seen at exhibitions in Venice, São Paulo, as well as at the Presidential Palace in Warsaw. He died on 21 February 2011 and was buried in his native Kraków.
