Biography:

Eugeniusz Wierzbicki (1909-1991), born in Khanzhenkov. He studied architecture at the Warsaw University of Technology. He obtained his diploma in 1936. At that time, together with two fellow students: Jerzy Mokrzyński and Eugeniusz Wierzbicki, they founded the "Tigers" group. They carried out many projects together, including the Party House in Warsaw and the Railway Station in Katowice. Wierzbicki ran a private architectural studio at the same time between 1936 and 1939. He fought in the 1939 Defensive War. He ended up in two prisoner-of-war camps: in Oflag II B Arnswalde and in II D Gross Born. In captivity, he organised the Theatre of Symbols, was on the editorial board of the camp magazine and taught architecture. After the war, he worked for the Bureau for the Reconstruction of the Capital. He became a famous architect, creating in the modernist style.
