Biography:

Andrzej Józef Chwalibóg (1946), born in Gliwice. He studied architecture at the Silesian University of Technology. In 1973 he joined the Silesian Architects' Association, where he was a member until 2000. From 1974 to 1982, he worked at the Faculty of Architecture of the Bialystok University of Technology. In 1980, he became active in the structures of the NSZZ "Solidarność" trade union. He took part in the strikes following the imposition of martial law. He was the author of the altar prepared in Białystok for the visit of John Paul II. He designed the Roman Catholic cathedral in Irkutsk, which was recognised as the best construction in Russia in 2000.
