Manuscript with a record of the history of the Jewish community in Murowana Goślina

Murowana Goślina is a town with a history of multiculturalism, shared life and cooperation between Poles, Jews and Germans. Before World War II, the Jewish community, alongside the German community, was an important part of the urban space with its own district, synagogue and cemetery. A watershed moment in the history of the Jewish community of Goslin was the fire which broke out on May 6, 1847 in the northern part of the town inhabited by Jews. Unfortunately, a voluntary fire brigade, which was established in 1888, did not yet exist. The destruction caused by the fire affected the Jewish community the most. After the fire, about half of the Jews living there left Murowana Goślina within a few years. It was considered that all the important artefacts had burned down in the great fire. However, in 2023, in the library of the Jewish Tehological Seminary, a miraculously salvaged Pinkas was discovered - a manuscript from 1833 containing records of the history of the Jewish community in Murowana Goślina, matters relating to its internal system, and minutes of meetings covering the years 1814 to 1833.
