Monument in Apóstoles commemorating the restoration of Polish independence

Monument in Apóstoles commemorating the regaining of independence by Poland. Erected by Polish settlers from Apostoles in 1919. It is located in front of the church of Saints Peter and Paul. At the top can be seen the statue of Christ holding a cross in his left hand, with his right hand raised in a gesture of blessing. Below the statue is the inscription: "Poles in Apostoles for a free and independent homeland!". In the middle of the object, a white eagle is depicted, corresponding to the emblem of Poland from 1919-1927. Below it is the date 28 June 1919 - the day the Treaty of Versailles was signed. It is worth noting that on the back wall of the monument (not visible in the photo) is a fragment of an unfinished inscription - 'for the free'. The monument is a testimony to the large number and importance of Polish emigrants arriving in Argentina at the end of the 19th century - and at the same time to the continuous connection with the motherland.
