Mickiewicziana in the Adam Mickiewicz Vilnius District Public Library

The Adam Mickevičius Vilnius County Public Library was established in 1950. It is located in the centre of Vilnius in a palace dating from around the 15th to the 16th century. The library's collection includes almost five hundred thousand books, periodicals, films, sheet music and maps in various scientific fields in Lithuanian, English, Russian, German, French and other languages. The library is visited by approximately two hundred thousand visitors every year. In 1955, in connection with the 100th anniversary of the death of Adam Mickiewicz, the library was named after him. Since then, the library's activities have been linked to him. The library's collection of Mickiewicziana includes more than a thousand publications in various languages, most of which are the work of Mickiewicz. In addition, the library collects literature on Adam Mickiewicz, including memoirs, biographies, critical literature on his work, as well as paintings, prints and sculptures related to Mickiewicz.
