Chortkiv town hall

The Old Town Hall in the town of Chortkiv was built in the 19th century, with a tower added in 1905-08. It is located in the centre of the town, on the square. It is a wooden building with columnar arcades and a clock tower. Next to it, in a separate building, are the wooden and also 19th-century Cloth Hall. It is a two-storey building, with a colonnade. The tower features a four-dial clock made in Switzerland, in Bern, by the Aosta company. It was designed by the famous timepiece designer, engineer Frenkal Hottenshaften. A cockerel-shaped weathervane was placed on the spire of the tower.

The old Town Hall no longer has a representative-administrative function. It has been replaced by the New Town Hall, located at a distance and on a different square. The new town hall was built in Constructivist style in 1926-30 by the architect Józef Kuncewski.
