Biography:

Kazimierz Jelski (1782-1867), born in Ejsmonty near Grodno, son of Karol Jelski. He studied at the Main School of Vilnius. He also studied painting and architecture at the Imperial University of Vilnius. He then trained in sculpture at the St Petersburg Academy of Fine Arts. From 1811 to 1826 he worked as a lecturer at Vilnius University. During his life he made many sculptures, including monuments. He was also involved in sculpture appraisal. In 1832 he wrote a book entitled. "On the Relationship of Architecture, Sculpture and Painting".
