Biography:

Bogumił Franciszek Ksawery Nowotny (1871-1960), Polish military officer, commander of the Polish Navy. He served in the Austrian army until 1918, then assigned as a naval desk officer to the Regency Council. Later that year he was appointed the first commander of the Polish Navy. One of the organisers and the managing director of the "Sailing Society" founded in 1919. Sarmacja" Shipping Society. In 1925, he became a graduate of the University of Foreign Trade in Vienna. In 1934 he moved for health reasons to Castel Gandolfo, where he lived until his death in 1960.Author of Memoirs, published in 2006. Memoirs.
