Plaster model of a sculpture of Nicolaus Copernicus in the Museo della Specola in Bologna

A plaster model of a sculpture depicting Nicolaus Copernicus, by Teresa Żarnower (1897-1949), consists of a spiral architectural base topped by a staircase, at the top of which is the figure of the astronomer, with his eyes directed towards the sky.

The model was documented in 1943 in the artist's studio in Montreal by the journalist Halina Korsak. After Zarnower's death, Janet and Arturo Abramowitz of Boston gave the model to Guido Horn D'Arturo, who deposited it in the Specola museum in Bologna. This is evidenced by a note found in the box along with the work.
