In 1259 the marriage of Ulrich I of Württemberg to Agnes, princess of Legnica, took place. Agnes was the granddaughter of St. Hedwig of Silesia of Andechs. The marriage was a combination of the counts of Swabia and the Bavarian court. The collegiate church (Stiftskirche) in Stuttgart contains the tomb of the princely couple. The heads of Ulrich and Agnes rest on cushions on which are carved the coats of arms of their families: the Swabian antler of Ulrich and the Piast eagle of Agnes.
