Biography:

Franciszek Smuglewicz (1745-1807), born in Warsaw, son and pupil of Lukasz Smuglewicz, Polish painter and draughtsman, educated at St. Luke's Academy in Rome, head of the Department of Drawing and Painting at Vilnius University, selected works: painting decoration of the Mikhailovsky Castle in St. Petersburg (1800-1801), Session of the Four-Year Sejm on 3 May 1791 (1793 ), Oath of Tadeusz Kościuszko at the Market Square in Krakow (1797) , Portrait of the Prozor family (1799 ).
