Biography:

Teodor Rygier (1841-1913), born in Warsaw, was a sculptor. Between 1856 and 1861 he studied at the School of Fine Arts in Warsaw under Konstanty Hegel, then in Dresden, Munich and Vienna, and between 1865 and 1866 in Berlin and Paris. In his later years he lived in Florence and Rome. He created monuments, sculptures, portraits and medallions. He is the author of the monument to Adam Mickiewicz in Kraków.
