In the local cemetery, there is a quarter of Polish legionaries killed in 1915-1916 in battles against the Russians near Kostiuchnówka. More than 30 soldiers are buried here. Only a part of the cemetery has survived to the present day - after the end of the Second World War, the rest was built over with new burials, and a platform was constructed in the central part for Orthodox funeral services. The surviving tombstones were devoid of crosses and needed renovation. The renovation of the gravesite was undertaken by scouts from Zgierz near Łódź. The work was carried out in 2001 with funds from the Council for the Protection of Struggle and Martyrdom Sites. On 25.08.2001 a solemn consecration of the renovated section took place, attended by: Maria Hrabowska - Chairwoman of the ZHP, Zbigniew Zapart - Mayor of Zgierz, Boguslawa Szczecińska - Secretary of Zgierz, Bogdan Winkler - Chairman of the Zgierz District Council, Leontij Dmitrowicz Krichkevich - Manevich district governor.Currently, the cemetery is under constant care of scouts from Zgierz and students from a school in Kostiuchnówka, Ukraine. The care is financed within the framework of a task subsidised by the programme of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage "Sites of National Remembrance Abroad".
