The cemetery in Khmelnitsky formerly known as Proskuriv is located in the southern part of the city along the road to Yarmolynets, on its right side, next to the old Orthodox cemetery, which is directly adjacent to the roundabout. It covers an approximate area of 2 ha. Zbigniew Hauser described the cemetery as overgrown and neglected, but in 2017 it was cleaned up by members of the Regional Polish Union and scouts from the club ,,Memory" https://ida.pol.org.pl/porzadki-na-cmentarzu-w-chmielnickim . In the mid-1990s, Hauser managed to write down 60 inscriptions, but after just a few years he could not find 19, which meant that the cemetery was constantly being devastated. The author recalls that the surrounding wall had been destroyed and the area had begun to be treated as a park. The cemetery was in operation, judging by the inscriptions, from the last quarter of the 19th century until the 1950s. The neo-Gothic-style monument on the grave of Michał Jankiewicz, who died in 1881, is probably the oldest surviving gravestone. As some of the more interesting tombstones Hauser mentions: Richard and Salomea Klatte topped with a large statue of an angel under a cross, unfortunately damaged, and also topped with a statue, Leon and Anna Kabec with a statue of the Virgin Mary. Both tombstones were created in the second decade of the 20th century. Also well preserved is the black marble monument, topped with a massive cross and decorated with an engraved Axe coat of arms, on the grave of Anna and Wilhelm Starża-Jakubowski from the early 20th century. Other more interesting tombstone forms found in the cemetery include a cannelled column and a knotted trunk, as well as grave slabs and rocks. Hauser also found one headstone with an inscription in English on the grave of a soldier who fell in the village in 1917.
