The Roman Catholic cemetery was established in the mid-19th century on the eastern outskirts of the city (now the downtown part of Brest, on Puszynska Street). Its area covers approximately 1.7 hectares. The cemetery is closed. Originally, the cemetery was administered by the Church of the Elevation of the Cross. Since 1938 (the separation of parishes), it has been under the administration of the Church of Our Lady Queen of Poland. In 1942, the German authorities occupying Brest decided to reduce the size of the cemetery, so that about 1000 graves were destroyed. The remains were moved to a mass grave and to the Garnixon cemetery, of which no trace remains. In 1956 the cemetery was closed due to lack of burial space.
There is a brick cemetery chapel in the south-eastern part of the cemetery. The cemetery contains many tombstones of considerable historical and artistic value. The oldest preserved tombstones are two dating from 1854 - a sandstone tombstone of Józef Szczepański and a cuboid pedestal of Ignacy Wysocki. Many representatives of the gentry rest in the cemetery, including the Bryndz family. In the north-eastern corner of the cemetery there is a devastated quarter of Polish soldiers from the years 1918-1920 (24 graves).
