Biography:

Baptised on 11 June 1852 in the parish church in Cudnov near Zhytomyr. Graduated from the Prince Bezborodka secondary school in Nezhyn. Studied medicine at St. Vladimir University in Kiev. From 1889, member of the Kyiv City Council. He served on numerous committees: Financial, Public Gardens, Municipal Property and others. Populariser and designer of Kyiv's 'outdoor' gardens and Chairman of the Public Gardens Committee 1892-1902. Member of the Kyiv Cyclists' Society (President 1900-1904). Member of the Committee for the Care of Former Prisoners and Homeless Children (1904). Managing and commercial director of the Kiev Metal Works (1889). Member of the board of the Polish-Russian Joint Stock Company (1897 manufacture of sugar machines). Member of the Buchalter Committee for the construction of St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church in Kiev 1892-1902. He was buried on 7 April 1904 in the Kiev Baykova Cemetery. In recognition of his merits, the Kyiv City Council resolved to have a funeral at the expense of the city and to name a gazebo in the park on St. Vladimir Hill after him (14.04.1904). He was married to Arkadia Franciszka Straszynska. Children: Józef (1880), Aleksander (1883), Maria-Ludwika (1884), Mikołaj (1885), Leon (1891-1903), Roman (1892), Stanisław (1894-1938), Tadeusz (1899), Wacław (1900-1901).
