Biography:

Zofia Butrymowicz (1904-1987), born in Warsaw, was a weaver. In 1927 she obtained a diploma from the Municipal School of Decorative Arts and Painting in Warsaw. In 1960, she graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts. One of the representatives of the Polish School of Artistic Textile. She has participated in numerous exhibitions in Poland and abroad. Her works can be found in the collections of the National Museum in Poznań, Warsaw, the Museum of Textile History in Łódź, and in private collections in Europe and the United States. Her work is characterised by strong colour and a combination of traditional weaving techniques and experimentation, typical of the second half of the 20th century.
