Cemetery in Dziawigy

Dziawgi | Belarus
biał. Dziauhi (Дзяўгі)
Cemetery with Polish gravestone monuments. Information about the cemetery has been published (see bibliography). According to Lewkowski and Walczak: "The inactive Catholic cemetery of the former nobleman's homestead in Dziawgi is located on the northern edge of the village (...). The shape of the cemetery is completely obliterated. The area is unfenced and there is no clear boundary of the burials. The boundaries of the cemetery are defined by the dense shrubbery and grass overgrowing the area. The cemetery was probably created in the second half of the 19th century. Seven tombstones in the form of granite boulders topped with cast-iron crosses have survived in the cemetery; they date from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The oldest of them is the tombstone of Antoni Zmaczyński from 1873. "The others belong to the Bryczkowski and Parasznski families. "Inscription from Antoni Zmaczyński's tombstone: "TU SPOCZYWA / ANTONI ZMACZYŃSKI / LIVED 70 YEARS / DIED IN THE YEAR / 1873".
