Biography:

Tadeusz Kantor (1915-1990), born in Wielopole Skrzyńskie, son of Marian Kantor and Helena née Berger, painter, director, stage designer and art theoretician. In the years 1925-1933, he attended the Kazimierz Brodziński Gymnasium in Tarnów. He studied at the Faculty of Painting of the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków in the atelier of Professor Władysław Jarocki, at the same time studying decorative and theatrical painting under Professor Karol Frycz. In the years 1942-1944, he managed the underground Independent Theatre, and from 1955 - the Cricot 2 Theatre. In November 1946, together with Maria Jarema, he participated in the International Exhibition of Contemporary Art in the Musée d'Art Moderne in Paris.
