Biography:

Kazimiera Frymark-Błaszczyk (1931-2022), born in Leśno, weaver, knitwear and fashion designer, educator. She studied conservation at the M. Kopernik University in Toruń and obtained her diploma at the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Łódź, in the atelier of Lucjan Kintopf and Marian Jaeschke. Assistant professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź (1955-2011). Designer and then head of the Department of Design and chief specialist for fashion and design at the Central Laboratory of the Knitting Industry in Łódź (1955-1981). Between 1955 and 1966, she worked at the Carpet and Tapestry Design Studio. From 1967 to 2001, she organised and headed the Knitwear Design Studio and the Department of Knitting. She taught at the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico (1990) and at the universities of Copenhagen and Dundee. Member of the Interior Design Council of ZPAP in the Łódź District. Organiser of international cultural exchanges with Germany, Denmark, Mexico and South Korea. Expert of the Ministry of Culture and the Arts in the field of contemporary textiles. Member of the College of Experts of the Studio of Fine Arts. She has created tapestries, openwork and relief knitwear, miniatures, unique textiles, handmade paper and spatial compositions.
