Grave of uhlans killed in 1939, commemorated by a cross

In the area of the village of Grandzicze on the Skidel-Grodno road on 20.09.1939, more than 20 lancers from the Cavalry Covering Group "Wolkowysk", commanded by rtm. Ryszard Wiszowaty, were killed. They were buried in the cemetery in Grandzicze. The grave survived the war and the communist period, in 1999. The Guard of Polish Graves from Wrocław erected a metal cross here with the emblem of their association and a plaque with the inscription: "To the unknown / Polish soldiers / of the defensive war / 1939 / grateful Compatriots / year 1999".
