Biography:

Józef Chełmoński (1849-1914), born in Boczki, son of Józef Adam Chełmoński and Izabela Łoskowska, painter. He studied at the Warsaw Drawing Class and in the private studio of Wojciech Gerson. He then studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. Chełmoński was one of the outstanding representatives of Polish realism. His works can be found in numerous Polish collections, but also in the garrison of, among others, the de Young Museum in San Francisco.
