Biography:

Michał Płoński (1778-1812), Warsaw-born draughtsman, printmaker and painter. He took drawing lessons in the atelier of Jan Piotr Norblin. At the age of 18, he left for Italy, where he became acquainted with European painting. He learned the art of engraving in Copenhagen, Amsterdam and Paris. He worked in the Imperial Engraving Cabinet in Paris. In the last years of his life, he suffered from mental illness. He returned to Warsaw where he died in a hospital for the insane.
