Biography:

Piotr Tadeusz Potworowski (1898-1962), born in Warsaw, son of Gustaw Seweryn and Jadwiga née Wyganowska, painter, stage designer and teacher. He fought in the battle of Krechowce. He trained under Konrad Krzyżanowski. Later he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, belonging to the circle of students gathered around the atelier of Józef Pankiewicz. In 1924, he left for Paris, where he joined a large group of other domestic artists. He had a studio in Montparnasse. In Paris, he took lessons from Ferndand Leger, among others. In 1930, he returned to Poland. After the outbreak of the Second World War, he made his way to Sweden. He settled in Näsby for two years. He later moved to England. He was a member of the Royal West of England Academy. In 1958, he returned to his home country. His art was popular at the time and he had many exhibitions. He ran a painting studio at the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań and Gdańsk.
