During the Polish-Bolshevik War, battles for Miadziol took place in July 1919 and in late May and early June 1920. The fallen Polish soldiers were buried in a small war plot in the municipal cemetery on the present Leninskaya Street. Concrete tombstones were made in the late 1920s and early 1930s, the main monument was erected in 1933. This obelisk was blown up by Red Army soldiers in 1939. Five graves, now unnamed, have survived from the former cemetery; it is not known how many there were before the destruction by the Soviets. In the focal point of the cemetery there is a monument, on its base there is an inscription: "On 11 XI 1933, as on the fifteen-year anniversary of the restoration of the independence of the Polish State / this monument to the fallen / heroes was erected by the grateful society / of the municipality of Miadzioł". On the shaft of the obelisk there was a plaque with an inscription, now, due to destruction, part of the text is unknown, the presumed meaning of these fragments is given in brackets: "TU (REST) / CORPSE(S) (UNKNOWN-) / OF THE (SOLDIERS) / OF THE (POLISH) (FALLEN-) / WHO WERE KILLED IN (BATTLES) / IN DEFENCE(OF) THE (HOMELAND) / OF THE COUNTRY IN CZ(ERWIEC) 1920 / AGAINST THE BOL(CHEVIKS) / AT M(IADZIOL)". The remains of this obelisk, found in the cemetery, were consolidated during the clean-up work carried out in 2014 by the Union of Poles in Belarus, with the support of the Consular Department of the Polish Embassy in Minsk. The renovation of the cemetery was carried out in 2020-2021 by the Foundation in Aid to Poles in the East as part of a task co-financed by the programme of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage 'Sites of National Remembrance Abroad'. Due to the considerable deterioration of the tombstone material, granite replicas of the tombstones were made, and the main monument underwent conservation.
