Cemetery in Opsa

The active rural Catholic-Orthodox cemetery, established in the mid-19th century, is located in the central part of the village. The cemetery is dominated by modern Orthodox tombstones. The cemetery is laid out on a rectangular plan, without divisions into alleys and plots. It is located on a heavily undulating terrain, on several hills and occupies 1.8 ha. It is not fenced and the entrance gate is on the west side. A path on an axis runs through the cemetery, dividing the site into two parts (older and newer). Only a few graves from the mid-19th century have survived. The oldest surviving tombstone of Rozalia Malkiewiczowa dates from 1874. It is a granite obelisk, located on the northern side of the cemetery. The following inscription has been preserved on the tomb: / Ś. P./ SPOCZYWA/ ROZALIO/ MALKIEWICZOWA/ UMARŁA r. 1874/ OF DECEMBER 8 DAY/ AGED 63/ ASKS THE PASSING BY FOR THREE/ HEALTH MARYA/.
Information about the cemetery has been published (see bibliography).
