Cemetery in Pacyniany

Cemetery with Polish gravestone monuments. Information about the cemetery has been published (see bibliography). According to Anna Lewkowska, Jacek Lewkowski and Wojciech Walczak, "on the edge of the forest on the left side of the road is located a contemporary Orthodox village cemetery. On its left side, in an area overgrown with young forest and scrub, there are clear traces of graves. These are probably the remains of the former manorial cemetery of the Moniuszko family. The size and shape of the cemetery are completely obliterated. Approx. 40 m deep in the forest a tomb has been preserved. It is a brick, vaulted burial chamber covered with sandstone slabs. Outside, the tomb is partly covered with earth and overgrown with young trees and bushes. There are no traces of inscriptions on the slabs. According to local people, these are the remains of the tomb of the Moniuszko family, devastated after 1945. The area is difficult to access with dense undergrowth, overgrown with bushes and mixed forest."
