Biography:

Franciszka Themerson was born as Franciszka Weinles on 28 June 1907 in Warsaw and died on 29 June 1988 in London. She was a Polish artist: painter, illustrator, draughtswoman, set designer, publisher and academic teacher. She was the daughter of a painter and a pianist. In 1929, she met Stefan Themerson. Three years later, she married him. The couple formed an artistic duo. Together, they made five experimental films that went down as important works in the history of Polish and European avant-garde cinematography.
