Biography:

Bronisław Piotr Piłsudski (1866-1918), Polish ethnographer, sociologist and traveller. In 1887, for his collaboration with the People's Will (Narodnaya Volya Volya), he was exiled to Sakhalin, where he conducted ethnographic research, culture and language of the Aynovs and Gilaks until 1899. In 1899 he became curator of the museum in Vladivostok. In 1906 he went to Japan and returned to Poland via the United States. He settled in Zakopane, where he conducted ethnographic research on the Podhale region. His works include dictionaries of the languages and culture of the Ainu, Gilat, Oroc and Mangun peoples. He was the brother of Józef Piłsudski.
