Biography:

Celestyn Kowalewski (1700-1771), consistory councillor, professor of pronunciation, history and law at the University of Königsberg, where he also served as chancellor for four terms (1752-1771). He bequeathed his book collection of 2,500 volumes and his collection of paintings to the library.
