Berezwecz cemetery

The exact date of establishment of the cemetery is not known. The cemetery is located approximately 3.5 km from the town of Głęboka. The establishment occupies an area of approximately 1.2 ha and is rectangular in plan. The entire area is surrounded by a low metal fence. An important place on the cemetery, in its southern part, is a monument to the victims of World War II. The memorial is made of concrete clad in white marble slabs. On its podium is a cross with a bronze cast figure of Christ. A path leads to the memorial, on the sides of which 27 granite boulders have been placed. On each of them is carved the number 1000, which symbolises the number of prisoners of war murdered in the Berezwecz camp buried in mass graves. The inscription above the entrance to the cemetery informs: "27,000 Soviet prisoners of war and 200 Italian soldiers are buried in the cemetery".
