On 10.08.1946, while returning from forced labour in Germany, a resident of the village of Staje, Piotr Górnicki, was detained by bandits and murdered in the Staje forest.

He was buried in the local cemetery. His grave is located next to the mass grave of Poles murdered by the Ukrainian Insurgent Army. It is a concrete horizontal slab, with a concrete cross superimposed on it and an engraved inscription: "Here rests Górnicki Piotr perished a tragic death 1925-1946" (the inscription contains a spelling error).

The renovation of the grave in 2021 was carried out by the Association for the Ulhówek Municipality "Robim co możem".
