Dating probably from 1597, the Sykstian chapel at the Church of St Mary Magdalene in Lviv is one of the city's oldest and most valuable buildings.

The aim of the conservation work carried out was to recreate the form of the chapel from the period after 1872, as presented in the available photographs, to the maximum extent using the original elements, which were subjected to appropriate conservation, with the necessary reconstructions of the missing fragments (cross, pinnacles, columns supporting the canopy) on the basis of the surviving drawings and photographs.

On-site installation of the elements was carried out. The object was secured for the winter period in order to continue the drying process of the stone, followed by a water repellent treatment.

The earliest photographs depict the Sykst chapel from the period after the 1872 reconstruction, probably made in the workshop of the Lviv sculptor Pavel Eutele. The shaft of the shrine, covered with an inscription in Latin, was obliterated with cement plaster in the post-war period, and the individual fragments of its finial were scattered or destroyed.

In November 2018, conservation and restoration work was completed on the chapel's column, located near the St Mary Magdalene Church in Lviv, and on the chapel's roof. Reconstruction was also carried out on previously damaged details: four pinnacles, four columns with Ionic capitals and a cross.
