The first wooden Church of St Anthony of Padua in Lviv was built in 1618-1630. Destroyed in 1648 during the Cossack siege, it was rebuilt from the end of the 17th century. The late Baroque temple was consecrated on 21 June 1739. The church was decorated by, among others, Thomas Huetter and Sebastian Fesinger. In addition to making the figures for the side altars, Fesinger is credited with two sculptures: the Immaculate statue by the front stairs and the image of St Anthony of Padua in the churchyard. In 2019-2020, the Polonica Institute carried out conservation work on the stairs leading into the church and the Immaculate sculpture. In 2021, conservation work began on the wall around the church.
