Tombstone of Anna and Augustin Wolski

Korościatyn | Ukraine

Burial place marked by a Christ figure on a two-stage plinth, in a band. Figure on its own base. Christ shown frontally, hands held at breast level embracing a burning heart entwined with a crown of thorns. He is dressed in a long robe tied at the waist, from under which his bare feet protrude. The robe with regular geometric and vertical folds, more deeply carved at the bottom. A cloak with widely parted sheaths is draped over the shoulders, with the right curled below the hand. The first step of the plinth with moulded upper edges. An engraved inscription to the front. The second step of the pedestal is moulded into a wider panel with chamfered upper edges. On the front there is an oval niche with a relief of the Mother of God, seated up to her knees. Mary points to a burning heart with her hands. She is dressed in a long ruffled robe and cloak, the halves of which overlap. Her hair is long and falls to her shoulders.
