Biography:

Ryszard Jakimowicz (1919-2010); in 1939 he made his way to France via Romania, Hungary, Greece, where he joined the Polish army. He then made his way to England, where he served as a navigator pilot in the RAF. In 1945 he married Halina Wodzyńska (1922-2002), a volunteer active in the Women's Auxiliary Air Service (members were popularly known as WAAFs, after the British prototype PLSK-Women's Auxiliary Air Force).
