Mass grave of the Home Army soldiers of the "Komar" unit

In the cemetery there is a mass grave of about 20 Home Army soldiers of the "Komar" unit (stationed here after the break-up on 6.01.1945 in the Rudnicka Forest), killed in early February 1945 by alleged "własowcy" (Vlasovists) in the hut and next to the hut of Zofia Sakowicz. The bodies of the Poles were thrown into the hut, which was set on fire. The owner with her mother and a 12-year-old shepherd boy, Yegor Golubev, a Russian, were also burned there. The common grave of the three is also in this cemetery. The names of 16 slain soldiers have been established. The original commemoration was a simple birch cross with a plaque on which was engraved an inscription mentioning only nine of the fallen. In 1998, with funding from the Council for the Protection of Remembrance of Struggle and Martyrdom, a monument was placed in front of this cross - a granite slab with the inscription: "Ś.P. Here rests about 20-some soldiers of the Wileńska Samoobrona AK (Home Army Self-Defence) from the Komar unit of Lieutenant Czesław Stankiewicz who were killed in February 1945 in a fight with NKVD units. Among the fallen were: Paweł Falkiewicz pseud. Ogień, NN Jastrząb, NN Jusiel, NN Rohoża, NN Bodin and other unnamed. Honour their memory". The whole is fenced with posts of light granite to which a metal chain and a metal gate are attached.
