Biography:

Jan Wacław Zawadowski (1891-1982), born in Skobełka, painter. He studied under Józef Pankiewicz. From 1912, he lived in Paris, where he worked in the circle of Apollinaire, Léger, Chagall and other avant-garde artists. During the First World War he was in Spain, and after the war he was again active in Paris before settling near Aix-en-Provence. In 1938 he took over the management of the Paris branch of the Kraków Academy of Fine Arts after Pankiewicz. He exhibited in European galleries and at Parisian salons. In his painting he was inspired by Cézanne, Bonnard and 17th century Dutch painting.
