Biography:

Janina Dłuska (1899-1932), born in Kursk, painter, illustrator and aviation enthusiast. She was educated in Krakow and obtained her diploma as a painter in Moscow; she also studied in Munich and Paris. She specialised in watercolour portraits, collaborating with fashion magazines including Vogue, Die Dame and Ivy. During the Polish-Bolshevik War she served as a nurse in the Women's Voluntary Legion. In 1931, she settled in Vilnius, where she was active in the Vilnius Aeroclub. She died on 8 June 1932 in a plane crash on Porubank. She is laid to rest in the Bernardine Cemetery in Vilnius.
